Comments In line with the increasing overall population, the number of persons aged 65 & over increased by 54,000 people between 1996 and 2006. However, persons aged 65 & over accounted for 11.0% of the population in 2006 compared to 11.4% in 1991 reflecting the younger age of immigrants.
